Insights for Change: Our Latest Report
Our latest report, Inhibited Growth: Examining Public Investment Gaps in Black Infrastructure Needs, provides a data-driven foundation for our ongoing efforts to establish a vital community and recreational center, illustrating how such spaces are essential for equitable community development.
Our joint report with the University of Toronto reveals significant underinvestment in Black community infrastructures. Analysis shows a 40% funding shortfall compared to other demographic groups, underscoring the urgent need for targeted initiatives like the SCCR community center to bridge these gaps effectively.
The research identifies a strong correlation between community-led spaces and enhanced socio-economic outcomes. Communities with centers like the proposed SCCR facility report higher education attainment rates and lower youth crime rates, proving the value of investment in these essential social infrastructures.
