A Closer Look at Our Future
Step into the future of community development with SCCR. This section provides a visual tour through the meticulously planned facilities, each designed to cater to the cultural, recreational, and educational needs of our community.
Indoor Basketball Court
Designed for both casual and competitive play, this full-size basketball court will host community tournaments and youth training sessions, fostering a spirit of teamwork and healthy living.
Multifunctional Recreational Spaces
Flexible spaces that can transform to host everything from yoga classes to community meetings, ensuring every community member finds a way to connect and engage.
Swimming Pool
A family-friendly pool area tailored for swim lessons, aquatic fitness, and open swim times, promoting physical wellness and providing a social gathering place for all ages.
Library & Archival Space
More than just shelves of books, this space will serve as a learning hub and historical archive, preserving the rich heritage of Toronto’s Black communities and providing a quiet study area.

Our proposals are not just visionary but are grounded in rigorous analysis and a deep understanding of community needs, drawn from a policy context scan and a comparative study of 36 community centres.

Annual economic contribution by Black-owned businesses in Toronto lacking infrastructural support.
Community health services face a $25 million shortfall in funding for programs that address the specific health needs of Black populations in Toronto.
Black children in Toronto live in neighborhoods with high rates of crime, lacking safe zones or community centers that offer refuge and positive engagement.
Black teenagers in Toronto who say they lack safe, accessible spaces for arts and recreational activities
SCCR will be addressing historic gaps in terms of social infrastructure investments and programming for Toronto's North West. We hope to follow in the footsteps of many cultural community spaces across Canada, who have undoubtedly contributed to the vibrant mosaic of our city and country.

Our future hub is designed to solve real and pressing challenges faced by our community, particularly those affecting Toronto’s Black and minority communities. Through targeted programs and inclusive spaces, we aim to bridge gaps in social infrastructure and offer a foundation for future growth.
